Significant attention was paid to discussion of further trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation. People’s deputies of Ukraine expressed gratitude to the Government of the Republic of Cuba for medical services provided within the Program Children of Chornobyl. They expressed hope for revival of the Program in the nearest future.
Participants of the meeting stressed the necessity to activate Ukrainian-Cuban cooperation in educational sphere.
Noel Carrillo thanked the Ukrainian Party for hospitality and the possibility of holding this meeting. He informed about domestic political and economic situation in the country and about the work of the Parliament of the Republic of Cuba. He expressed hope for intensifying bilateral political, economic and trade relations. N.Carrillo stressed the importance of development of bilateral relations in the health care sector (medicine and pharmaceutics), where the Republic of Cuba has reached significant success and has certain advantages.
Attention was also paid to the necessity of developing new spheres of cooperation, in particular, tourism.
The Ukrainian Party was represented by Viktoriya Babych, Serhiy Balandin, Olha Boryta, Anton Dorokhov, and Iryna Spirina (the Communist Party); Serhiy Hlazunov (member of the Faction of the Party of Regions); and Valeriy Karpuntsov (member of the Faction of the Political Party “UDAR”. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to Ukraine Ernesto Antonio Senti Darias has also participated in the meeting.
